natural family living sims: round 1

In this round you will be preparing for the baby's big day. Weather that means getting the nursery ready or getting yourself ready. Show us what special things you do for your unborn child or children. You will need 6 pictures for this round and at least 3 sentences of story telling.

round one: getting ready for baby

its really sinking in that im having another baby. ive started sewing diapers and clothes like a madwoman.

i bought alot of fabric when i found out i was pregnant and pulling it out to sew made it real somehow. wow. im having a baby.

ive been talking to my belly alot, getting to know her before she comes. did i say she? i really think its another girl. a mothers intuition.

ive been checking off a list of things id like to have ready by the time our baby comes.
slings, diapers, carseat, we even were gifted a baby hammock for naps in the living room.


ive been talking to eryx about his new younger sibling, i got him his own baby to help with the transition.


ive been reading everything i can find on normal healthy birth. thank you internet!


but mostly what ive been doing to prepare is relaxing. relaxation is such an intregal part of labor. how can your body progress when its fighting itself? how can your mind truely be free to birth when youre plagued with worry? right now im daydreaming. daydreaming of my baby :)

You have a doctors appointment and we want to go with you. We want to see what you doctor has to say about your pregnancy. Is everything moving along as it should or are there any surprises to be found.

You will need 3 pictures and at least 3 sentences of story telling for this task.

today i took the girls with me to pick up some birthing supplies and a visit with a local freebirth friendly direct entry midwife.
first we spoke with her about what supplies we needed, it was nice bouncing ideas off of her, she remembered some things i had forgotten on my list (darn pregnancy brain) and we discussed how to prepare the kids for the birth.

then she showed me some birthpools. i havent decided whether i want a water or land birth. i guess ill just have to wait to see what i want in labor. but i really loved laboring in the tub with eryx.
here we are finding the perfect birthpool. nice and spacious.

after we got the business taken care of we walked around and visited with the doulas, it was so nice and relaxing being around like minded people. it can get so stressful constantly hearing wellmeaning, albeit uneducated friends and family working themselves into a panic over how unsafe homebirth is, let alone unassisted birth. birth is as dangerous as life, no more, no less. this visit was nice and helped me connect back to why i freebirth. im feeling capable, im feeling empowered... i can do this!

natural family living sims: application

Family Names: (mother, father, siblings, and any pets) mother: elissa, father: aeneas, sisters: antigone and callisto brother: eryx
Ages: elissa is 25, aeneas is 26, antigone and callisto are 9, eryx is 2.5
Location: northeastern kansas
Occupations: elissa is a work at home mom who sews slings and cloth diapers. aeneas is a conceptual artist.
What do they do that makes them a natural planning Family: (cloth diapers, baby wearing, breastfeeding, etc.) just about everything, from birth and beyond. we birth them where we make them, home sweet home. after a medically managed disaster of a birth ending in cesarean with the twins i told myself there has to be a better way, which led me down a long winding path through birthcenters, midwives offices and ended with freebirthing. my freebirth with eryx was so empowering. im planning on freebirthing this one too. once theyre born we wear them and cosleep, we also practice elimination communication, with cloth diaper backup in the newborn days, until we get into our groove.breastfeeding is a given at this point, i believe strongly in childled weaning so ill be tandem nursing. oy... but im ready! after all i went through trying to salvage my breastfeeding relationship with the twins im ready for anything life throws my way!
